Rustic Glam Fabric Baskets
Earthy with a touch of glam! The rustic part of this Collection is the use of upcycled Hessian fabric. We use various textures and weights of Hessian that form the Earthy body of these baskets. The glam part is introduced by using a variety of glamourous/luxurious fabrics on top of the Hessian. This creates a paradoxically beautiful combination.

Made with 100% Cotton canvas, distressed and frayed by hand, Luxurious velvet peeking through, Denim top stitch and Yarn detail collectively make up this rich tactile basket.
Although we use the same pattern, each one is slightly different as they are constructed one at a time.

More about the Shibori Indigo Dyed Fabric that we use...
The Indigo dyed Shibori fabric is procured from a local supplier from the Western Cape (see Aristea Indigo on Facebook), that uses the ancient method of dyeing fabric in a vat of dye created from the Indigofera tinctoria plant.
Shibori is an umbrella term for Japanese resist dyeing.
Itajime Shibori is a technique where you fold fabric and press it between two objects thereby creating a resist. The method of folding and then clamping will create various and endless geometric patterns.
